Real estate transactions in Russia will be confirmed by biometrics starting from July 2026.
Starting from July 1, 2026, the procedure for processing real estate transactions in Russia will change. When buying, selling, mortgaging, and renting, biometric data can be used to confirm identity. This was reported by the press service of the Kirov region's Rosreestr office.
The innovation is provided for by federal law No. 133-FZ. Biometrics will be used in electronic services alongside enhanced qualified electronic signatures.
Facial images and voice recordings will be used for identification. This data will be verified through the Unified Biometric System.
The transaction processing will include several steps: participants undergo biometric verification, sign documents with an electronic signature, after which the data is sent to Rosreestr.
At the same time, personal visits to the MFC to confirm consent when submitting documents electronically will no longer be required.
Biometric data is stored in a secure system and used only for identification, which should reduce the risk of fraud in real estate transactions.
