The prosecutor's office of the Zuevsky district acted as the state prosecutor in the case of a fatal traffic accident. The defendant is a 21-year-old local resident.
As established in court, on November 9, 2025, at night, the defendant was driving a VAZ-1118 car along Sverdlov Street in Zuevka. He grossly violated traffic rules: he incorrectly chose the speed limit, while maneuvering around a "sleeping policeman," he made a dangerous maneuver on the shoulder and hit a pedestrian. After that, the car crashed into a road sign and went off into a ditch.
The driver fled the scene of the accident. The pedestrian died.
Before the verdict was delivered, the young man admitted his guilt, compensated the municipality for the material damage to the damaged road sign, and also transferred 100,000 rubles to the daughter of the deceased as compensation for moral harm.
The court agreed with the position of the state prosecutor. The man was found guilty under paragraph "b" of part 4 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (traffic violation resulting in the death of a person due to negligence and associated with leaving the scene of the accident). The punishment is 5 years of imprisonment to be served in a settlement colony, as well as a 2-year ban on driving vehicles.
