Vyatka continues to rise: 30 yards, 9 roads, and 2 bridges remain in the flood zone.
According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Kirov Region as of April 18, the hydrological situation in the region remains uneven. The water level in the Vyatka River continues to rise. Over the past day, the increase ranged from 3 cm (in the area of Sovetsk) to 32 cm (in the Omutninsky district). Meanwhile, most small rivers are experiencing a decline.
In the morning, the water level in the Vyatka River near Kirov reached 396 cm from the zero mark — the river gained 7 cm over the day.
Currently, the following consequences of the flood have been recorded in the region:
30 adjacent territories have been flooded (in the Vyatskopolyansky, Kilmizsky, Malmyzhsky, Sovetsky districts, and the city of Kirov);
2 low-water bridges have been flooded (in the Kiknur and Oparinsky districts);
9 sections of local roads have been flooded (in the Vyatskopolyansky, Kotelnichsky, Oparinsky, Sovetsky districts, and Kirov).
Operational groups from local government bodies and fire-rescue units are on duty in the flooded areas. Targeted assistance is being provided. The life support of the population is not disrupted, and evacuation is not required.
Due to ongoing precipitation, a further slight rise in the water level in the Vyatka River is forecasted.
A set of preventive measures is being implemented. Temporary accommodation points have been prepared in case of a possible worsening of the situation.
