Up to half a meter of snow may fall in the south of the Kirov region.
The authors of the Telegram channel "Amateur Meteorology in Kirov" have drawn attention to new calculations from the global ECMWF model. According to one scenario, up to 50 cm of fresh snow may accumulate in the southern part of Kirov Oblast. This refers to the model estimate of the parameter "new snow," which reflects the total increase in snow cover during the precipitation period. The presented map shows that the area of maximum values affects regions south of Kirov, including the surroundings of Nolina and Urzhum. However, such indicators do not mean that this amount of snow will fall all at once. The final snow cover height depends on the duration of precipitation, air temperature, and snow density. Furthermore, at this stage, the forecast remains variable: different models may provide significantly different scenarios. Amateur meteorologists emphasize that the situation requires further observation. More accurate estimates of the intensity and localization of snowfall will become possible closer to the date of the expected worsening of the weather. Earlier, "Amateur Meteorology in Kirov" reported that a cold snap in the region is expected from April 19 and may last up to five days, with the threat of snowfall primarily remaining for the southern part of the region. It was also noted that according to one negative scenario, snowfalls could begin on the night of April 19, although other models allowed for their absence.
