"Gasification" for 1.4 million: bank employee saved a pensioner from scammers

      In March, a 91-year-old resident of Belaya Kholunitsa came to the office and requested to withdraw 1 million 400 thousand rubles — supposedly for the gasification of her house. Manager Svetlana Maltseva doubted the reason and insisted on contacting the police. Later it turned out that the day before, the pensioner had received calls from unknown individuals who introduced themselves as law enforcement officers. They convinced her that someone was trying to steal money from her account, so it needed to be urgently withdrawn and she should wait for further instructions. It is likely that the savings would have to be given to a courier or transferred to someone else's account details. Thanks to the vigilance of the bank employee, the pensioner did not lose her savings. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the attempted fraud on a particularly large scale, and the identities of the callers are being established.
