Olimpiya's next opponent in the VHL championship was the league leader — Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Despite the visitors' status, Olimpiya did not make defense their priority, and in regulation time they scored as many goals as in the previous three matches combined. Throughout the match Olimpiya played catch-up: they equalized three times, the last time with 39 seconds remaining after pulling their goalie for an extra skater. Losing in a shootout (3–4), the Chepetsk team picked up one point. In the standings they are 24th out of 32 teams. On Sunday at 17:00 Olimpiya will host Krasnoyarsk's Sokol.
