Kirov doctors saved a woman with a neck wound.

      At the end of 2025 a woman with a stab-cut wound to the neck was admitted to the resuscitation and intensive care unit of the Center for Traumatology, Orthopedics and Neurosurgery. The walls of her laryngopharynx and venous vessels were severely damaged. The operation involved a neurosurgeon, a trauma orthopedist, an anesthesiologist‑intensivist and a nurse. A radiologist was also consulted. According to the Ministry of Health, the injury was very complex and dangerous. The doctors had to restore the integrity of the upper segment of the digestive tract and the entrance to the larynx and preserve the key functions of the laryngopharynx. Ultimately the surgery was successful and all functions were preserved. The postoperative period was uneventful. After that the woman was discharged and advised to have outpatient follow‑up. At that time she was already able to eat and speak independently. In the future the patient will be able to return to a full life.
