At the Kirov railway station, an 18-year-old man stole a forgotten wallet containing money.
A 53-year-old resident of Kirov applied to the Kirov Line Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Transport. The man reported that he had arrived in Kirov by passenger train and may have accidentally dropped his wallet while passing through the security checkpoint. According to him, after passing through the metal detector gates he placed a wallet containing 5,000 rubles in the pocket of his outer garment, but a few minutes later discovered it was missing. His own searches yielded no results.
Later the Kirov resident found his wallet on the street—without the money. He suspected that someone had picked up the wallet on the station premises, taken the cash and thrown away the empty wallet, and then he turned to the police for help.
During operational-investigative measures, transport police officers identified a suspect. He turned out to be an 18-year-old resident of the Kirov region with a prior conviction. According to police, the young man was on the concourse of the second floor of Kirov station, where he noticed a wallet lying on the floor. Without attempting to find the owner, he picked it up and left the station building. On the street the offender removed 5,000 rubles from the wallet and discarded the wallet itself. He spent the stolen money on personal expenses.
A criminal case has been opened by the inquiry division of the Kirov Line Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Transport under Part 1 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft). The article carries a penalty of up to two years’ imprisonment.
