Facing the freezing cold — walking through the cemetery: schoolchildren from Kstinin were left without a bus.

As reported by the regional branch of the People’s Front, parents were warned about the termination of the transport service back in December. The school suggested either transferring the children to other educational institutions or arranging transportation themselves.

The school bus was used by children from the villages of Zveni, Pochinok, Glushikha, Sorvikha, Golodnitsa, from the Vyatka substation and from the Golden Park cottage settlement. Now there are few options — and all are problematic. Some children are forced to walk more than two kilometers on foot through a cemetery where, according to parents, dogs run loose and the road is not always cleared. The alternative is walking along the shoulder of a busy highway for nearly seven kilometers.

Another option is scheduled buses with transfers. Pupils take route No. 103, then transfer to bus No. 125 at the "turn to Kazan" stop. The latter runs infrequently, so children have to get up early and spend between one and one-and-a-half hours on the road. A round trip costs a family 160 rubles per child per day.

In some cases parents are taking matters into their own hands. Thus, Yulia Ryakina, a mother of a large family from the village of Zveni, drives not only her son but also neighborhood children to school, since there are simply no other safe options. According to the People’s Front, a search for a new driver is currently underway, but parents fear the process will drag on. The salary for this position, they say, is about 26,000 rubles.

Parents appealed to the People’s Front for help, which forwarded the appeal to the Ministry of Education of the Kirov Region.

Facing the freezing cold — walking through the cemetery: schoolchildren from Kstinin were left without a bus.

Students at Kstininskaya School in the Kirov Region were left without a school bus in the middle of winter. Child transportation stopped on January 12 after the driver, who had worked at the school for 12 years, was dismissed and left because of low pay.
