According to the Gorky Railway, in 2025 long-distance trains carried 61.2 thousand passengers from Kirov to Saint Petersburg. This is 13.1% more than a year earlier. Seven direct and transit trains operate between Kirov and the northern capital. Passenger traffic growth is also noted on other routes of the Gorky mainline. Thus, 155.6 thousand people departed from Nizhny Novgorod to Saint Petersburg over the year, which is 9.6% higher than last year's figures. From Kazan in this direction 72.5 thousand passengers were carried (+13.3%), and from Izhevsk — 28.8 thousand (+10.6%). In addition, during the New Year holidays about 1.7 million passengers were carried by long-distance and suburban services from Gorky Railway stations. During this period 6.2 thousand people departed from Kirov to Saint Petersburg. Travel documents can be obtained through the "RZD Passengers" mobile app, on the official website of JSC Russian Railways, and at railway station ticket offices.

      As reported by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kirov Region, an unknown man first called the woman and introduced himself as an employee of the electricity provider. He said that a crew had allegedly been sent to her home to replace the electricity meter and asked her to read out the code from an SMS message to confirm the request.

      A few minutes later the victim received a call from a woman who identified herself as an investigator from the Investigative Committee. She said that scammers had gained access to the personal account of the Murashi resident on the Gosuslugi portal and were trying to transfer her money to "Ukrainian terrorists." To prevent the theft, the woman was asked to follow the instructions of an "FSB officer."

      A man who introduced himself as an FSB officer convinced the pensioner to withdraw all her savings and transfer them to a so‑called "safe account." He also helped install apps on her phone for communication and transferring funds. As a result, the woman withdrew money from two banks and transferred 1,785,000 rubles to the accounts provided.

      After the transfer, the fraudster demanded that she delete all installed apps and correspondence. The woman told her husband what had happened, and he explained to her that she had become a victim of fraudsters.

      A criminal case has been opened and an investigation is underway.
