Russia established a new commemorative date — April 19.
Amendments have been made to the list of Russia’s Days of Military Glory and commemorative dates. The corresponding federal law was published on the official legal information portal.
According to the document, Article 1 of the federal law “On the Days of Military Glory and Commemorative Dates of Russia” has been amended to include a new commemorative date — April 19. It is established as the Day of Remembrance for the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people committed by the Nazis and their collaborators during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.
In connection with the addition of the new item to the law, the paragraphs of the article have also been technically renumbered.
The federal law was adopted by the State Duma on December 16, 2025, approved by the Federation Council on December 19, and signed by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, on December 29. The document comes into force on January 1, 2026.
