In Vyatskiye Polyany, a schoolgirl fell into a ditch on a dark street.
Residents of Kraynaya Street in Vyatskiye Polyany told the People's Front that after 4 p.m. their road literally disappears into darkness. Along a stretch about 300 meters long there are lamp posts; they were replaced more than five years ago, but the fixtures were never installed.
According to locals, they try to go to the shop and the pharmacy only during the day. At night people use headlamps, and walking with children in the evening is impossible. The lack of lighting is especially dangerous for schoolchildren: they walk this road to the public transport stop. Parents try to see children off and meet them, but not everyone is able to do so.
Recently a girl fell into a ditch in the dark. The girl's mother said her daughter came home covered in mud. Fortunately, she was uninjured.
Residents have repeatedly contacted the Vyatskiye Polyany administration, but officials consider the problem solved, since one LED fixture was installed on each of the four streets adjoining Kraynaya Street. Officials are sure that this is enough. Locals disagree — the light from the new lamps falls on neighboring streets, while Kraynaya remains dark.
"The stretch is small, the posts are there. Moreover, people are ready to co-finance the work. Hanging a couple of fixtures is not some colossal expense. We see here purely an organizational problem," says Valeriya Cheremisinova, head of the regional branch of the People's Front.
Activists sent an appeal to the prosecutor's office. Earlier, thanks to the People's Front's efforts, lighting appeared in Chistyye Prudy on Sovetskaya Street, as well as in the villages of Skokovy and Suvorovy in the Slobodskoy district.
