Carved "sea" gates unveiled at the Grin Museum in Kirov.
The installation of the gates was carried out thanks to cooperation between the Kirov Regional Museum of Local Lore and folk master and honorary citizen of Kirov Gennady Lopatin. Museum staff worked on the installation with him, and the institution’s trustees also provided assistance. Recall that they had planned to unveil them by mid-November.
Deputy museum director Nadezhda Oskolkova reminded that as a child Alexander Grin dreamed of the sea, and it was that dream that shaped his creative world. According to her, the new "maritime" gates have become a symbol of that dream and a tribute to the writer.
The structure consists of a metal frame clad in wood. The gates are decorated with carved depictions of sailing ships and are crowned at the top by a ship’s wheel. According to the museum, Kirov residents and city visitors are already happily taking photos next to the new installation. In the future, the entrance area will be used for programs on the outdoor site.
The Grin Museum building has the status of a federal historical and cultural monument and was restored in 2024 for Kirov’s 650th anniversary.
