Kirov residents put nearly 300,000 coins back into circulation.

Residents of the Kirov region actively joined the nationwide "Coin Week" campaign — during its run they turned in to banks more than 290,000 coins totaling about 1.2 million rubles. All of this was done free of charge and with the option to exchange small change for banknotes or to have it credited to an account. The head of the Kirov Branch of the Volga‑Vyatka Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia, Sergey Kryukov, noted that returning small change to circulation can be done even without special campaigns: coins are still accepted in shops, on public transport and at the post office. At the same time, "Coin Week" helps return hundreds of thousands of metal rubles to transactions and reduces the state's expenses on minting new coins. Overall, Russians turned in more than 56 million coins totaling about 245 million rubles.
