In Verkhoshizhemsky District, a fisherman fell through the ice.
The man went completely underwater but managed to get out on his own, breaking through the ice crust and swimming to the shore. He emerged from the water wet, frozen, but conscious.
The person waving his hand in the middle of the pond was first noticed by local resident Alexey Burkov, the "Selo Sredneivkino" community page reported. After confirming what was happening with binoculars, he took a rope from his house and headed to the pond. Power company workers from Verkhoshizhemye who were passing by joined him on the way — together they reached the victim, who by that time had already gotten out of the water.
Almost simultaneously, employees of the local fire station led by Vasily Yemshanov arrived at the pond. They called an ambulance, and the fisherman was taken to the boiler house where he was given dry clothes and hot tea. After that the man was handed over to medical personnel and sent to the Verkhoshizhemye Central District Hospital.
Employees of the administration and an agricultural company also arrived on the scene. The village stresses that none of the locals remained indifferent and help was provided from various directions.
Earlier we reported that the government of the Kirov region specified the timeframes during which going out onto the ice is considered dangerous and prohibited. Thus, December 21 was chosen as the date until which it is still too early to go out onto the ice. Read more about the restrictions here.
