In 2024, one in ten organizations in Kirov faced various cyber threats.
Nearly 2,300 organizations in the Kirov region used digital technologies in 2024. Of these, one in ten faced various cyberthreats, from viruses to hacking attempts, the press service of Kirovstat reported.
Among the consequences of the attacks, the most frequently recorded were system failures (26%), data destruction or corruption (15%), and leaks of confidential information (12%). Most organizations in the region (89%) use protective measures: strong authentication (82%), spam filters (71%), firewalls (59%), and encryption (57%). Biometrics are used by only 6% so far.
In 2024, spending on digitalization in the region amounted to more than 15 billion rubles, 54% more than in 2023. The largest share went to equipment — 8 billion rubles. Of that sum, 190 million rubles were allocated to information security, and 705 million rubles were spent on Russian software, 70% more than last year’s level.
There is also a steady trend toward adopting domestic software, which helps protect against potential external attacks. But the key factor for success is a comprehensive approach: combining new technologies, regular updates, and employees’ awareness of security issues.
