A convict from the Omutninsk penal colony went on a three-day furlough.

At Correctional Colony No. 17 in Omutninsk, an inmate with a positive record was granted an annual paid leave allowing him to leave the facility. He will spend three days at home with his family.

According to the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Kirov Region, the decision to grant the leave was made by the colony administration on the basis of the inmate’s exemplary behavior. He conscientiously performs his work duties and does not violate the rules of serving his sentence.

"Granting this type of incentive is an effective tool for encouraging law‑abiding behavior among inmates," said Ivan Lyapunov, deputy head of Colony No. 17.

The agency emphasized that the practice of granting leaves in Kirov correctional institutions helps inmates with social adaptation, strengthens family ties, and builds psychological readiness for life after release.
