Residents of the village of Ilyinskoye have been forced to use rusty water for five years.

For example, one local resident said that with the weak water pressure he has to change the filter about once every two weeks. A slimy, "clay-like" clump appears in the filter housing, but even that doesn't help — the water remains cloudy and yellow.

Residents contacted Rospotrebnadzor, and the agency did indeed record violations of the water turbidity standards. Specialists recommend contacting the water utility, and people did so — the contractor periodically issues billing adjustments for water quality. But according to the residents, the turbidity hardly improves as a result.

The People's Front got involved and sent an appeal to the prosecutor's office. According to the head of the regional branch, Valeriya Cheremisinova, the likely cause is aging treatment facilities that have long needed reconstruction. "If it isn't possible to get by with minimal measures, the repairs could affect the water supply tariff. People should know that we are looking for the real cause and the scale of the problem," she said.

Earlier, in February 2023, it was announced that the region had funds for the reconstruction of water supply networks. Under the 2023–2027 program, modernization of six facilities was planned, including in the village of Ilyinskoye (Slobodskoy District). Tens of millions of rubles were allocated in the budget for these purposes.
