Is Kirov's Dynamo not interested in local homegrown players?
The season in the national football championship’s Second League (Gold division) has ended. On that occasion the VK page “History of Football in Kirov Oblast” published some interesting statistics. There — broadly speaking — is the attitude of FC Dynamo’s management toward local homegrown players. Let’s take a look… The team’s roster for the season included four players under 20. All are from Kirov. Goalkeeper Kirill Belevskikh did not step onto the field even once, defender Timofey Sitnikov — the same, midfielder Nikita Semeniщev — the same situation. As with forward Ivan Laptev. They all performed well at youth levels, and Dynamo was a logical next step for them to continue their careers. The club leadership was not expected to give them any favors. We assume the young players themselves understood that they weren’t yet ready for the Second League and didn’t ask for special treatment. It would have been quite enough to give them a couple of minutes in any match — to feel what professional football is like. And to show Kirov fans the local football youth in action — to demonstrate that not only outsiders are favored. Neither happened… What’s the point of running a team that so blatantly ignores local players? Oh, and by the way — Dynamo were relegated from the “Gold” division. We believe a roughly similar result could have been achieved without inviting expensive foreign players.

For some reason, talented players on the team were ignored throughout the season.
