The minimum wage in Russia will increase by more than 20% from January 1.
At a plenary session, the State Duma adopted in the third reading a law changing the minimum wage. The document is part of the budget package and was considered simultaneously with the draft federal budget for 2026–2028.
According to the law, as of January 1, 2026 the minimum wage (MROT) will be 27,093 rubles per month, more than 20% higher than the current level. The increase in the minimum wage is expected to affect about 4.5 million workers across the country, boosting their incomes.
Alongside the federal increase in the MROT, regions are also adjusting social norms. Thus, in Kirov Oblast a new subsistence minimum has been set for 2026 — it will rise by 6.8% to 16,856 rubles. The figure for working-age residents is set at 18,373 rubles, for children — 16,350 rubles, and for pensioners — 14,496 rubles.
