The former head of Verkhoshizhemsky District was killed in a terrible traffic accident.
Yesterday, November 15, a fatal road accident occurred at the 149th kilometer of the Kirov–Sovetsk–Yaransk highway, in which Dmitry Vasilyevich Kadesnikov, who had led the Verkhoshizhemsky District for 12 years, was killed. The tragedy happened at 11:50, when a Scania truck and a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV collided.
As a result of the crash, the driver and a passenger of the car were killed. Among them was 50‑year‑old Dmitry Kadesnikov. The truck driver was injured.
Kadesnikov headed the Verkhoshizhemsky District for 12 years and during that time became one of the most prominent figures in local government. He is remembered as a responsible, energetic and caring leader, a man of strong character, great authority and a sincere love for his native region. Incidentally, under his leadership the district annually became one of the region’s leaders in implementing PPMI projects — up to ten projects a year, which for a small municipality was considered an outstanding result.
Kadesnikov always defended the residents’ interests to the end. It was precisely his desire to protect his fellow townspeople, including the chief physician of the district central hospital (whom the authorities removed after a visit to the district), that led to a conflict with Governor Igor Vasilyev, which ended with Dmitry Vasilyevich’s dismissal “for stubbornness.”
In 2018 Kadesnikov officially left the post of district head and moved to party and administrative work. At the time he said, “I would like to thank everyone for our joint work. I am confident that our cooperation for the benefit of the Verkhoshizhemsky District will not cease.”
“He was self‑confident, but yesterday even that didn’t help on the road,” say those who knew him personally. The editorial board of Newsler.ru expresses its condolences to the family and loved ones of Dmitry Vasilyevich.
