Kirov's road workers received an "icebreaker".
On November 15, the second day of the III All‑Russian Congress "Roads. Bridges. Landscaping" took place in Kirov. About 150 specialists from the road industry across the country are participating. The participants are studying modern standards for road construction and maintenance, and are also sharing experience of working under climatic and logistical challenges.
The practical part of the program began with a visit to the construction site of a tunnel under the Trans‑Siberian Railway in the Novovyatsky District. The delegation then visited the site of the regional enterprise Vyatavtodor, where participants were shown preparations for winter road maintenance, the fleet of special equipment, and snow‑clearing technologies.
During the visit, the company Ledokolnye Sistemy handed over a new system for removing ice to the regional road service — the so‑called "icebreaker." The device is capable of scraping ice buildup up to 20 centimeters thick and, according to the developers, works about ten times faster than a person with a crowbar or ice axe. At the same time, the equipment does not damage asphalt, paving slabs, or granite surfacing.
Vyatavtodor noted that they plan to use the new equipment already in the upcoming winter season — primarily in pedestrian zones and on certain road sections. Over the year the authorities want to increase the share of good roads by 0.6%. They plan to spend 5.6 billion on the tunnel and 158 million on the Lipatnikov Avenue project.
