Children's SIM cards will be introduced in Russia.
Russia's Ministry of Digital Development is introducing children's SIM cards. This was announced by the ministry's head, Maksut Shadaev. According to him, parents will be able to obtain a child's geolocation without needing to submit an official request.
The initiative is aimed at increasing children's safety on the internet. Using special SIM cards, children under 14 will not be able to log in to social networks or use certain services not intended for their age.
Such SIM cards are planned to be rolled out across the country so that parents can control their child's digital activity and feel more secure about their safety, reports RBC.
Recall that a provision of a federal law recently came into force limiting the number of SIM cards that can be registered to one person. Russian citizens are now allowed to have no more than 20 numbers, and foreign citizens up to 10. As State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin noted, this measure will help reduce cyberfraud and protect Russians from financial losses.
