A resident of Kirov stored cigarettes without excise stamps worth one million rubles in garages.
In Kirov, officers from the Economic Security and Anti‑Corruption Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Kirov uncovered an instance of illegal storage and sale of cigarettes without mandatory markings. According to the press service of the regional MIA, a 61‑year‑old resident of the regional center was involved in the unlawful activity.
According to the police, the man purchased tobacco products from an unidentified person with the intent to resell them to his acquaintances. He used two rented garages in Kirov’s Oktyabrsky District to store the cigarettes.
During searches of the premises and the suspect’s vehicle, officers discovered and seized 4,100 packs of cigarettes without the required markings. According to preliminary estimates, the value of the seized goods exceeds 1 million rubles, which qualifies as an especially large amount.
A decision is currently being made on whether to open a criminal case under Part 6 of Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Production, acquisition, storage, transportation or sale of goods and products without marking and/or without applying information required by Russian law). Police are establishing all the circumstances of the man’s illegal activities, and a number of expert examinations have been ordered.
