Residents of Kirov Oblast turned in 800 tons of old tires.
Two collection points have been opened in Kirov where vehicle owners can hand in old car tires free of charge, the regional Ministry of Environmental Protection reported.
Old tires can be handed in until December 1 of this year at the points located at 47A/1 Luganskaya Street and at the Lubyagino landfill (16th km of Soviet Trakt).
The region’s Ministry of Natural Resources reminded that tires are classified as Class IV hazardous waste and must not be thrown into municipal solid waste collection containers or left at waste collection sites.
It should be noted that last year residents of Kirov Oblast handed in more than 800 tons of old tires, of which 400 tons have already been sent to the Dmitrov Rubber Technical Products Plant for recycling and use in the production of rubber crumb — a material for stadiums and sports grounds.
