The court set the date for announcing the sentence for Mamedov's former deputy.

      Recall that Ilya Pauzin previously served as the deputy to the former head of the Tourism Development Center, Ruslan Mamedov, who is also a defendant in a separate criminal case concerning the embezzlement of budget funds.

      At the hearing, Pauzin, who is charged under Article 33, Part 5 — Article 159, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, attended with his lawyer Pavel Rozuvan. The defendant appeared calm but somewhat downcast. After the prosecutor read out the circumstances of the crimes, Pauzin stated that he fully admits his guilt and agrees with all the facts presented.

      According to the investigation, at the end of 2023 the Tourism Development Center concluded contracts for the purchase of shoes and clothing for volunteers of the "Russia" exhibition in Moscow. Pauzin admitted that he handed part of the funds provided by the contracts to Ruslan Mamedov — the instigator of the embezzlement. In total he handed the former head 68,000 rubles and did not receive a single kopeck himself.

      Answering the judge's question about his motives, Pauzin said: "Out of my own lack of understanding of the possible punishment."

      After the questioning, the court moved to the closing arguments. The prosecutor, taking into account the confession of guilt and mitigating circumstances, asked that Pauzin be sentenced to a fine of 300,000 rubles.

      The defendant's lawyer Pavel Rozuvan called such a measure excessively harsh. He noted that Pauzin has no prior convictions, is described positively, leads a healthy lifestyle, is raising two children born in 2005 and 2014, and is not registered with the narcology service. In addition, the damage caused to the region was fully compensated already at the investigation stage.

      The court retired to the deliberation room. The verdict for Ilya Pauzin will be announced on October 27.
