In the Belokholunitsky District, residents of the settlement have been living without food deliveries for three weeks.
Residents of Borovka said that since the end of September they have been on a forced "diet": food deliveries stopped on September 26. Previously the administration organized trips once a week by prior request, but the vehicle broke down and there is nothing to replace it.
According to representatives of the People's Front, people are now literally finishing off what remains from the summer. For example, 80-year-old Olga Skorik survives thanks to vegetables from her garden and home preserves.
The administration of the Belokholunitsky District reported that they will only be able to resume deliveries in November — when the vehicle is repaired. Until then people have to "somehow get by" for another one and a half weeks.
The problem, according to the People's Front, is not isolated. Residents of the village of Bolshie Tury in the Sunsky District faced a similar situation: the only shop there closed six years ago, and a year ago the mobile shop stopped coming. It is impossible to get to the district center, located 25 kilometers away — there is no bus service.
"Unfortunately, there will be more and more such situations in the future. Internal migration drives people to large cities, leaving only a few residents in villages. Running shops becomes unprofitable, as does repairing the roads leading to such sparsely populated settlements. It is obvious that a systemic solution to this problem is needed. So, to start with, we ask residents of the region who find themselves in a similar situation to tell us about it. Together with regional authorities we will address the problem," commented Valeriya Cheremisinova, head of the regional branch of the People's Front.
Complaints are accepted in the People's Front group on VKontakte, by phone at 25-18-24, or via an online form.
