After a fatal traffic accident near Kirov, the mother and grandmother of the deceased will receive 1.2 million rubles in compensation.
The Svechinsky District Court of the Kirov Region granted the prosecutor’s claim to recover compensation for moral damages from Vyatavtodor JSC in favor of a 65-year-old local resident who lost her son and granddaughter in the accident. The woman will receive 1.2 million rubles.
The tragedy occurred on August 24, 2024, on the R-243 highway “Kostroma – Sharya – Kirov – Perm.” A 68-year-old driver of a GAZelle Next, an employee of Vyatavtodor, lost control of the vehicle and collided with an Alfa moped that was traveling in the same direction. The 34-year-old driver and his 13-year-old niece died at the scene.
The court found the driver guilty under Article 264 of the Russian Criminal Code and sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months in a settlement-type penal colony, with deprivation of the right to drive for 2 years.
After the sentence entered into force, the prosecutor went to court on behalf of the elderly woman, who was unable to protect her rights on her own. The court accepted the prosecutor’s arguments and ordered the road organization to pay compensation. Enforcement of the decision is being monitored by the supervisory authority.
