Police on scooters: the Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed equipping officers with electric scooters.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that work to improve the patrol service through the use of alternative means of transport is being carried out on an ongoing basis, RT reports citing the ministry's response to St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly deputy Pavel Krupnik. In particular, e-scooters are already being used by police on the federal territory "Sirius" to patrol public areas of the Olympic legacy and locations of mass recreation on the Black Sea coast.
In addition, there is positive experience of their use in Birobidzhan, where scooters help police officers patrol city parks and recreational areas.
"Given the positive experience of using personal mobility devices (PMDs), information has been sent to the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to determine the prospects for equipping officers of the patrol-and-post service with them, taking into account regional specificities," the ministry said.
