Investigators of the Slobodskoy Intermunicipal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia have completed the investigation of a criminal case initiated against a 21-year-old resident of the settlement of Nagorsk. The young man has been charged under subparagraphs "a" and "v" of Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Violation of traffic rules and the operation of vehicles).
The tragedy occurred on the evening of August 3. According to the investigation, an intoxicated man who had previously been convicted under Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Operating a vehicle while intoxicated by a person subject to administrative punishment or having a criminal record), while behind the wheel of a VAZ-2110, was driving along Sovetskaya Street in Nagorsk. He struck an 18-year-old girl who was standing on the roadside, after which he collided with a power line pole and clipped a nearby parked car.
The girl died at the scene from her injuries. During the investigation the accused fully admitted his guilt. The criminal case has been forwarded to the Nagorsk District Prosecutor's Office for approval of the bill of indictment and subsequent referral to court.
