In Russia they want to "mark" sausage.
Russia's Ministry of Industry and Trade (Minpromtorg) proposes to introduce mandatory labeling of meat and sausage products starting March 1, 2026. The corresponding draft decree was published on the ministry's official website, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.
According to the document, the labeling will be introduced in stages. Registration of participants in the meat product labeling system is planned to begin as of March 1, 2026. From August 1, 2026, manufacturers will be required to label meat products, and from October 1, 2026 — sausage products.
The labeling will make it possible to better track the origin of products, increase consumer confidence, and combat counterfeiting. The Ministry of Industry and Trade explained that the labeling will help protect consumers from counterfeits and will allow the tracking of products from the producer to the store shelf.
