Every other resident of Kirov dreams of escaping their apartment block to live in their own house.

A survey showed that 42% of economically active residents of the Kirov region would like to live in their own house. The rest prefer apartments — but the higher the floor, the fewer the takers.

Thus, 19% of respondents would like to live on floors 1–5, 16% on floors 6–10, and 9% on floors 11–15. Another 8% of Kirov residents dream of height — they chose the "16–20 floors" and "21 and above" options. And 5% admitted that they don't care where they live — as long as it's their own place.

Men's and women's preferences turned out to be similar, but men more often choose upper floors while women prefer lower ones, explaining it simply: "I don't like riding the elevator for a long time."

People under 35 more often choose apartments, whereas the desire to have one's own house grows with age. Among Kirov residents over 45, country housing is the most popular. The reasons are the simplest and most understandable: "I have dogs," "I want a garden and a sauna," "I've always dreamed of my own house."
