In Kirov Oblast, villagers rebuilt the collapsed bridge themselves.
In August a bridge over the Svyatitsa River collapsed in the village of Vogultsy in the Falensky District — it broke under the weight of an overloaded KAMAZ truck. After the incident, about 30 people were effectively cut off from the "mainland" and from emergency services. Getting to the shop, pharmacy or the local feldsher-obstetric point (FAP) was possible only by a detour — through the village of Ilyinskoye. The round trip was more than 40 kilometers across fields, which was an unacceptable option for the villagers.
The People's Front intervened: they recovered the truck, fined the driver, and also opened a criminal case under the article "Rendering vehicles or transport routes unusable." The prosecutor's office issued a notice to the local administration on the need to restore transport accessibility. However, as it turned out, the authorities took no measures.
In the end the villagers decided to act themselves. With the help of local entrepreneurs they replaced the supports and laid a new wooden deck. Now passenger cars can cross the bridge again. Passage remains closed to trucks and special machinery — even the garbage containers have been moved outside the village.
