The Vozhgalsky butter and cheese factory is being inspected for discharges into the Bystritsa River.
As the ministry reported, the reason was the expiration of the previously issued order: the company was required to bring its wastewater into compliance with regulations to prevent pollution of the Bystritsa River.
On September 29, specialists from the Ministry of Ecology inspected the plant’s treatment facilities and took samples of wastewater as well as water samples from the river in the area affected by the discharges. All materials were sent to an accredited laboratory, where the necessary tests will be carried out.
The ministry noted that construction of new biological treatment facilities at the enterprise has been completed. Their effectiveness will become clear after laboratory analyses. Following the inspection, the Ministry of Ecology promised to report on further response measures.
