A sentence has been handed down to the man who robbed a child on the street.
On the morning of December 6 last year, an unpleasant incident occurred near a school for students with disabilities on Rosa Luxemburg Street. A 36-year-old man from Kirov snatched a mobile phone worth 8,000 rubles from a child's hands. He then fled the scene and sold the phone to a pawnshop for 1,000 rubles. Shortly thereafter the perpetrator was detained, the mobile phone was seized and returned to the minor.
A criminal case was again opened against the Kirov resident, who had been convicted multiple times before (Articles 158, 314.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code (robbery). The court agreed with the prosecutor and, taking into account information about his personal circumstances, his prior convictions and the unserved sentence under the last verdict, sentenced him to one year and two months' imprisonment to be served in a strict-regime corrective colony.
The defendant attempted to appeal the sentence to the appellate court, but by the decision of the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Kirov Regional Court the complaint was dismissed. The sentence was upheld.
