In the Sovetsky District, a drunk driver insulted a police officer.

On the evening of April 22, a 56-year-old resident of the Sovetsky District, while intoxicated, was driving a VAZ-2114 on the roads of the village of Lesnikovo. He was stopped by police officers. At the time of his detention the driver insulted an officer and resisted arrest.

The court found the Kirov resident guilty on several charges: repeated drunk driving, use of violence against a public official, and publicly insulting a police officer.

Taking the totality of the offenses into account, the man was sentenced to 1 year and 1 month of imprisonment and was deprived of his driver's license for two years. However, considering that he had no prior criminal record, has steady employment and other mitigating circumstances, the sentence was replaced with a suspended sentence with a probation period of one and a half years.

In addition, the convict’s vehicle was confiscated by court decision in favor of the state.

The sentence has entered into legal force.
