Stability matters more than salary: Kirov residents described the criteria they use to choose a job.
Young residents of Kirov Oblast, when looking for a job, primarily focus on a company's reliability and stability rather than corporate perks and benefits packages.
Thus, the main criterion for choosing an employer for Kirov residents was stability (60%). In second place was the atmosphere within the team (55%), while a high salary took only the third position (49%). At the same time, the region's youth value a flexible schedule (44% vs. 38%) and opportunities for career growth (41% vs. 35%) more than the national average. Meanwhile, company reputation and the absence of bureaucracy proved to be less significant than in other regions.
Differences are also noticeable between men and women. Men primarily look at salary (61.3%), while women more often choose a comfortable team (56.2%) and a work–life balance (50.4%).
Criteria strongly depend on the field of employment: in IT and law, high salaries are the priority; in the creative industries and education — interesting projects and corporate culture; in medicine — stability and growth; and in trade and services — a flexible schedule and team atmosphere.
