A criminal case has been opened in Kirov after parts of an unsafe building collapsed in Sadakovsky

The Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov Region carried out an inspection after the partial collapse of elements of the entrance group of building No. 49 on Moskovskaya Street in the Sadakovsky settlement. The building was declared unsafe as early as August 2018 and is subject to demolition; however, the Kirov administration planned to relocate the residents only in 2026.

An inspection of the building with specialists from the State Housing Inspection confirmed the destruction of the brick masonry of the entrance. Residents were offered options for temporary relocation to the municipal temporary housing stock, but they refused, awaiting the provision of permanent housing under the municipal program.

On the fact of the administration's failure to take measures to withdraw the plot where the unsafe building is located, the investigative authorities opened a criminal case on the charge of "Negligence" (part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). A construction and technical examination has been appointed, and procedural supervision of the progress of the investigation has been organized.

The Prosecutor's Office sent the results of the inspection to the Kirov administration and the regional Ministry of Construction with a demand to step up work with the homeowners, ensure citizens' safety until relocation, and find additional funds for these purposes. Monitoring of the elimination of violations continues.
