A meeting was held in Russia on supporting pregnant women and young mothers.
The meeting was opened by the coordinator of the "Strong Family" project, first deputy chair of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection and on Issues of Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood, Tatyana Butskaya. Participants discussed the best regional practices for assisting pregnant women and families with children, support measures for first-time pregnant women, young families and students, as well as the results and initiatives implemented as part of "Pregnant Women's Day" in spring 2025.
The Kirov Region was represented at the meeting by the medical center "Sovermed." Representatives of the institution spoke about the work of schools for expectant mothers and parents, projects in the fields of psychology and women's health, and programs to support families with children.
In Kirov, after consultations expectant mothers are presented with a letter from Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' containing congratulations and best wishes, and models are used to visually demonstrate the process of a child's development. Also, beginning in 2025 a new support measure for employees of the group of enterprises was introduced: female employees expecting a baby are given a one-year child monitoring program called "Grudnichok."
Currently, at the medical center, with the support of the "Strong Family" project, four schools have been opened:
"School for Expectant Mothers and Responsible Parents" – assistance in overcoming the difficulties of pregnancy, childbirth and childcare. In September 2025 the school's 7th cohort was launched; more than 1,000 expectant parents have already completed the courses.
"School of Psychology and Mental Health" – support for mental health as the foundation of a happy life. The 3rd cohort will begin in October 2025.
"School of Women's Health" – prevention of women's diseases and raising awareness about health. Events have been held monthly for three years.
"School of Child Health Care" – fostering a conscious approach among parents to children's health. The 2nd cohort is already underway in September; more than 500 people have already completed the school.
Thematic round tables are also regularly held to promote motherhood and to assist pregnant women and young parents.
