On the Day of Solidarity in the Fight Against Terrorism, Vyatka State University held a training on fostering anti-terrorism awareness.
The establishment of the commemorative date, September 3, is linked to the tragic events that took place in 2004 in Beslan. During a celebratory assembly, terrorists seized School No. 1. For three days the captives were held in appalling conditions — denied water, food, and the ability to meet basic bodily needs. In the course of the attack 334 people died, including 186 children.
“September 3 is a day included in the calendar ‘100 Dates of Russian Identity,’ intended to strengthen patriotism, civic solidarity and commitment to traditional values. On this day we bow our heads in memory of all who died at the hands of terrorists on the territory of our country,” said Galina Plotnikova, senior lecturer in the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law and Legal Support of the Civil Service at VyatGU.

The training program included the screening of a short film in which the theme of patriotism was explored through the perspective of a Russian photographer who found himself in territory occupied by the Germans, as well as the social spot “Do Not Kill,” warning against complicity in terrorism.
After the screening, students actively discussed what they had seen, exchanging emotions and impressions. Ilya Mosechkin, associate professor of the Department of Criminal Law, Procedure and National Security at VyatGU, explained the concept of terrorism and clarified which types of crimes fall under it.

The exhibition, dedicated to the 15 largest terrorist attacks committed in modern Russia, featured not only informational panels but also the opportunity to listen to audio accounts about each tragedy by scanning a QR code.
Addressing the students, Sergey Yurkov, associate professor of the Department of Criminal Law, Procedure and National Security at VyatGU, emphasized:
“Terrorism is absolute evil! We must remember this and honor the memory of the victims of terrorist acts, as well as those who, risking themselves, saved hostages.”

Fourth-year student of the Law Institute at VyatGU, Diana Fuchko, shared her feelings:
“I am terrified even to imagine what the hostages went through in those terrible moments. We must remember these tragic events and their victims every year so that such a thing never happens again.”
