Dmitry has become a rare name in Kirov Oblast.
The "Reestr ZAGS" portal published information on rare and popular names that Kirov residents gave to their newborn children in 2025.
According to the portal as of September 3, 2025, the most common name among boys was Mikhail: 147 newborn boys were given this name. The second most popular name was Timofey: 119 newborn boys in Kirov were named Timofey. Matvey and Artem tied for third: 113 newborn boys were given each of these names. Alexander occupied the final spot in the popularity ranking: 107 boys now bear this name.
Among girls, the most popular name was Sofia: 112 girls were given this name. In second place was Anna: 111 newborn girls were given this name. In third place was Eva: 91 girls now bear this name. Vasilisa and Maria tied for fourth: 88 newborn girls in Kirov were given each of these names.
As for rare names, newborn Kirov boys were named Selim, Sadig, Muhammad Ali, Svetozar and, oddly enough, Dmitry. In 2025 the old Russian name ended up among the rare ones.
The rarest names among girls were Teya, Veroslava, Rosalia, Mia and Ilyuza.
