The Minister of Transport: "We have not made any decisions to launch flights to Astrakhan and Volgograd."

Recently several media outlets reported supposedly planned flights from Kirov to Astrakhan and Volgograd. However, the Minister of Transport of the Kirov Region, Alexey Petryakov, dispelled these rumors.

According to the official, there is currently no talk of these flights, and no decision has been made to launch them. For now, it is a matter of our region trying to negotiate with others about possible routes in the future.

"We are ready to further develop the route network," Petryakov said. "For this we are negotiating with airlines. Just yesterday I signed many letters to my colleagues in the regions — about cooperation, about working through the issue of expanding the route network. We also wrote to Astrakhan and Volgograd… Well, not only there, but to other regions as well. We are waiting for responses. We are initiating a dialogue, not announcing the launch of new flights."

The minister added that you cannot simply start a new route; it must be made profitable for airlines and local authorities. Relevant discussions and an analysis of the situation are currently underway.
