The main phase of construction of a tunnel under the Trans-Siberian Railway will begin in Kirov.

      In Kirov, construction of a transport tunnel under the Trans‑Siberian Railway is continuing. The large-scale project is being built as part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life," and funding was provided with the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin after a meeting with Governor Alexander Sokolov.

      According to the contractor Avtoban, the construction site is fully prepared for project implementation. Auger drilling of leader boreholes for the starter excavation and the driving of sheet piles into them are currently underway. At the same time, pipe-sheet piling and tie beams — structures required to reinforce the future tunnel — are being fabricated.

      "Once all the sheet piles have been installed, the main works on the transport crossing will begin. The contractor plans to start them this year," the construction management said.

      While the crossing is closed to motorists, public transport and shuttle services have been organized for residents of the 41st microdistrict. Route schedules are available on the website of the Central Dispatch Service. In addition, the possibility of launching a direct, no-transfer route that will connect the two parts of the Novovyatsky District is being considered.
