Vyatka State University is implementing the media project "Shield: Russian Security Science".

      At Vyatka State University (VyatGU), with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia and within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology, a unique media project, "Shield: Russian Science of Security," is being implemented.

      The project leader, Elena Shcherbinina, head of the Department of Russian Language, Speech Culture and Teaching Methods at VyatGU, explained:

      "The media mechanism 'Shield: Russian Science of Security' is being created to ensure Russia's national independence, competitiveness, security and sustainable socio-economic prosperity through the popularization of information about the achievements of Russian culture in the field of countering technogenic, biogenic and socio-cultural threats, terrorism and extremism."

      The media mechanism includes five main sections. In the "Cybersecurity" section, technologies for ensuring cybersecurity based on artificial intelligence, scientific investigations of cyberattacks and monitoring of network security are covered.

      Great attention is paid to media security issues. The corresponding section is devoted to the science of informational-psychological, value-semantic and linguo-ecological destructive impacts on individuals in the media environment.

      The "Countering Terrorism and Extremism" section contains a scientific analysis of the issue of terrorists' use of drones and artificial intelligence, face-recognition technologies for security, and developments for detecting explosives.

      The assessment of biological risks and their management, as well as scientific developments in the fight against biological threats, are covered in the "Combating Biological Threats" section.

      The "Preventing Technogenic Disasters" section discusses space-based observations of the Earth's surface to prevent accidents at industrial enterprises, nuclear incidents and environmental disasters.

      "In conditions of increasing destructive informational-psychological impact, cyberthreats and other sources of danger to society, the economy and the state, it is necessary to strengthen the country's defense capability and national security. We hope that the popular science content created about countering threats to national and individual security, about scientific achievements in this field, about Russian scientists who have devoted their lives to studying threats and preventing them, will help make life safer," Elena Shcherbinina noted.
