In Kotelnichsky District, a worker's hand was "chewed up" in a machine.

      On June 17 a terrible incident occurred with an auxiliary worker in the sawmill department of LesStroySnab LLC. While laying boards, the man's sleeve was caught in the rotating part of a lumber-sawing machine. His hand had to be amputated. The injury is classified as a "serious injury." During the investigation the cause of the accident was identified: the machine was used without a guard on the rotating part and there was no emergency stop device at the workstation. In addition, other violations were found: the auxiliary worker in the organization was allowed to work without undergoing occupational safety training, and on the day of the accident was made to work overtime without his written consent; the rules for operating the machine were not observed; the employer did not monitor employees' compliance with safety instructions or the correct use of personal protective equipment; the woodworking machine did not have a declaration of conformity with the technical regulations or an operating manual. According to the deputy head of the State Labor Inspectorate in the Kirov region, Alexey Loginov, the legal entity and the responsible officials were brought to administrative liability under Articles 5.27 and 5.27.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The Ministry of Health reported on the condition of Kirov residents who were poisoned by chlorine fumes. In Kirov several people were hospitalized with signs of chlorine fume poisoning. In the Arbazhsky district a lessee will pay more than 1.6 million rubles for illegal logging.
