Kovaleva congratulated Kirov's oldest residents.
Last weekend, honorary citizens of Kirov and veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Gennady Ivanovich Penkin and Mikhail Yuryevich Mezhirov, celebrated their birthdays. Gennady Ivanovich turned 99, Mikhail Yuryevich 98.
Today, August 25, the veterans were congratulated by Mayor Elena Kovaleva and the chair of the city veterans’ council, Larisa Kopysova.
“Please accept my most sincere congratulations and wishes of good health and buoyant spirit! You are representatives of the generation of victors, who faced many trials that not only did not break you but made you stronger, and you were able to raise a great country from the ruins,” Elena Kovaleva said to Gennady Ivanovich.
It should be recalled that this year Gennady Penkin became the only veteran from the Kirov region to take part in the Victory Parade in Moscow. According to him, the festive program for war participants was organized at a high level: the veterans were congratulated by the Deputy Minister of Defense, there were performances by artistic ensembles, and a celebratory banquet was held.
Mikhail Mezhirov, in turn, thanked them for their attention and emphasized that the Vyatka land has become his second homeland, although he was born in Ukraine.
Both veterans received congratulations and commemorative gifts from their guests.
