The cause of the fire in Sovetsk has been determined.
Earlier we reported that on August 11 two fires occurred in the Kirov region in which vehicles were destroyed. Investigators from Russia's EMERCOM determined the cause of the fire in Sovetsk: in a private garage a young man was repairing a VAZ-2110, and while he was carrying out electric welding work flames broke out in the car's interior.
Together with his neighbor, they managed to push the car out onto the street, preventing the flames from spreading. Seven EMERCOM personnel and two pieces of firefighting equipment quickly extinguished the vehicle. There were no injuries.
The fire was caused by a breach of safety requirements during welding work. This was reported by investigator Alexander Galkin of the Division for Supervisory Activities and Preventive Work.
The agency's press service advised garage owners to follow these rules:
- monitor the condition of electrical wiring
- use properly functioning equipment
- buy a fire extinguisher, as it will help deal with a fire at an early stage.
