Before the start of the new school year, Rospotrebnadzor decided to pay attention to school backpacks for children and adolescents. According to experts, current requirements set standards for the weight and size of backpacks: for primary grades the maximum weight without textbooks is no more than 700 grams, and for upper grades up to one kilogram. Backpacks for primary school students should have a rigid back that evenly distributes the load and fits snugly against the back. Textbooks must also comply with weight standards depending on the grade: for first graders the weight of the set should not exceed 1.5 kilograms, and for older grades up to 4 kilograms. It is considered optimal when the weight of the backpack with textbooks does not exceed one-tenth of the child's weight. In addition, school backpacks should be visible in the dark — they need reflective elements. The material should be lightweight, durable and easy to clean.
