The Kirov Blood Center is expanding the collection of anti-Rh plasma.
In 2025, the Kirov Blood Center expanded its activities and began collecting anti‑Rh plasma. This component is necessary for producing a medication that helps prevent Rh incompatibility in Rh‑negative women during pregnancy. Collection is performed using an automated method and takes no more than 40 minutes. Donors with the required antibodies, identified through specialized screening, are recruited for this purpose. For example, a resident of Yaransk recently came to Kirov to donate plasma and contribute to saving future mothers and their children. The Kirov Blood Center became the first in the region to set up collection of this type of plasma. The institution plans to scale up its operations to meet the needs of medical organizations and improve access to this life‑saving medication.
