Kirov residents were upset that Simakov criticized the youth.
Today, around half past four in the morning, Vyacheslav Simakov, the head of the Kirov administration, posted a message in which he criticized young people. Specifically, he wrote: "And this is what I was talking about above. Some of our youth spend their time without thinking about the future" (spelling and punctuation preserved). He also attached two photographs. The first shows people sitting on a bench, who possibly are consuming something (otherwise they wouldn’t attract the indignation of a passing official). The second shows young people standing at the entrance of a store—probably one of the 24-hour ones.
Kirov residents commented under the post, mainly arguing that Simakov, in their opinion, should not criticize young people, but do everything possible to ensure they don’t drink or sit on benches at night, and instead engage in something more useful.
For example, one commenter wrote: "Vyacheslav Nikolaevich, did you get drunk right from the morning? Or did you realize that your management of the city isn’t very good, and switched to pedagogical activities? Seriously, don’t you think that discussing things in this manner is in poor taste? An old lady on a bench — maybe, but as the head of the regional center — no. Instead, tell us what you’ve done over your three years of leadership to raise youth so they wouldn’t sit like that."
Simakov responded to this post briefly: "People shouldn’t judge others by themselves." The author of the comment asked him to provide more substantive information about his work with youth, but did not receive any further response. They expressed hope that authorities would do something to prevent children and teenagers from wandering the streets and parks at night, risking their lives and health.
Additionally, Simakov was told that if the teenagers are standing in front of an alcohol store in the second photo, it’s the authorities’ fault that such shops are still operating.
Furthermore, the city manager was criticized for not creating conditions for sports activities everywhere in the city. One commenter wrote: "Residents of Malaya Subbotikha want a sports ground with exercise equipment. A well-equipped football field. There’s nothing in the neighborhood — no House of Culture, no sports facilities for the youth. Teenagers are riding motor vehicles or just misbehaving; they have nothing to do in their residential area."
